last hour at work
on a hot day,
reading a book.
The fan oscillating
air moves coolly,
and electric static-tates.
Beams of outer sun
creep in as thieves fingers
steals my attention outside.

Drones - May 2008
The whirring of computers
droning like high pitched
bees.
Like a mockery of summer
hot, dry, and electric
inside.

inside.
Ants! - May 2008
Body scan on a rock
as relaxed as, this
ants climb over me and rock
making no distinction
I sit here
focused on breath
not what is me, is ant.
Until the end, surprised -

Rooftop - May 2008
Air whistles by
buffeting us
soft heavy slaps
embraces that quickly pass
leaving the sound of impact.
Greenery leaves illuminated
by May sunshine
hold on tight to their perch
aloft the dead building
now a home for pigeons
and whistling winds.

Heat - May 2008
The heat beyond,
the body
below, inside 3 burners
growth
unaccustomed to utilising
inner riches
energetic
transformational
hot breath in the throat
rises like smoke
thru the spine's chimney.

Sounds - May 2008
Five doors open
to cool the room
it's still hot, and silent
except for noise creeping in,
cars, leaves, fans, alarms,
distant voices, knocks, steps.
And only the quiet sound
of me writing, and my
breath.
